It’s no secret that Baton Rouge Moms loves to support local small businesses. We also support literacy with our Books for Baton Rouge holiday book drive. So we are especially thrilled to be able to share a wonderful book series with you, created by New Orleans book author Rhonda Valladares. Rhonda is the author of LIL’ YAT’S ADVENTURE BOOKS, a children’s book series consisting of (8) fun filled adventures set in New Orleans and the surrounding areas. She has also published five matching coloring books and sells original hand paintings signed by the illustrator that reflect scenes from the adventure books and a t-shirt line (NOLA WE ALL DAT). Lil’ Yat’s “plush dolls” of all four characters will be making their debut in the coming weeks too!
LIL’ YAT’S ADVENTURE BOOKS are written by Rhonda Johnson Valladares and illustrated by Kurt Johnson, this eight-book series details the city where this brother and sister duo grew up. As kids, they enjoyed the many trips to Audubon and City Park with such attractions as Monkey Hill, the Zoo and Storyland. The characters of LIL’ YAT’S ADVENTURE BOOKS, Lil’ Yat the shrimp, Yatty Boy the frog, Drexel the alligator and Yatty Girl the Pelican, take children on adventures that can only be had in Louisiana.
